Class starts 9/25/17 and the NYS Written is on 12/21/17. Must have EMT certification to attend.
September 18, 2017 at 8 am is an optional Skills Practice Day. The Challenge Written Exam and Practical Skills Exam is on September 25, 2017 starting at 8 am. Topics covered on the Written Exam include: Scene Size Up/Operations, Medical, Trauma, Airway, Geriatrics, Pediatrics, OB/GYN and Childbirth. Study these areas!
All students will attend on September 25th and take the Challenge Written Exam and a NYS Practical Exam. There will be no retests for practical stations failed on this date. Retests will be done at the second scheduled Practical Exam. The written exam will be graded and depending on your score for each topic and your performance on the Practical Exam it will be determined which lectures you need to attend. A score of 80 or better and successful completion of the skills station is required to “challenge” out of a particular lecture topic. In theory, if you do well on all of the topics and the Practical you do not need to attend any lectures. You will know by the end of the first day which lectures you need to attend and you will be given a written Learning Contract outlining your course requirements. The class schedule may change slightly based on the results of the challenge exam. Subsequent classes are scheduled for Mondays from 8 am – 4:30 pm.
